Greenwood was founded in 1982 and is a private, nonprofit organization. As the largest rehabilitation center of our kind in Colorado, we offer high-quality treatment for injured or sick wildlife and hand-raising of orphaned baby mammals and birds, leading to their release back into the wild. Greenwood also provides valuable learning experiences through outreach programs for children and adults. The average cost for each animal we care for is $330. In 2015, nearly  3,000 wild animals came through our doors, three-quarters of which were orphaned.
